Afterschool Enrichment
-
“Real life” project work opportunities abound, as children use The Compass
School’s campus to design backyard habitats, engineer obstacle courses
on the playground, prepare foods in our demonstration kitchen, or grow
vegetables in our nature center, for example
-
Curriculum does not attempt to duplicate their school work, but rather
extend learning beyond the classroom
-
Comfortable areas for completing homework are available for those
that need to focus on school assignments while at Compass
-
Access to a Data Center for small group activities on the computer, in
addition to computers being stationed in each classroom for those that
need to research on the computer, learn to use software, or simply have
fun with friends
-
Field Trips on days when public school is not in session allow students
to enjoy various enrichment opportunities in the community that can be
further discussed, studied, and documented back at The Compass School
-
In addition to project work and homework options, students can engage in
structured or free play to wind down after a rigorous day at school
-
Students are taught to take ownership of their classroom through the artwork
that is displayed, the use of different spaces, and maintaining a clean,
healthy, and safe environment
-
Transportation is available to a from several local schools
-
Large playground provides the venue for science and nature activities,
sports and other fitness activities, artwork, construction, …and play!
“My
son has adjusted much quicker than I expected. I am very impressed with
the staff at The Compass School. I can’t wait to read my son’s daily reports.
The teachers are great at communicating with us.” -Kim, Preschool Parent
