The Compass School’s Kindergarten program offers a unique blend of Reggio-inspired, project-based learning, in conjunction with exposure to the needed state standards of learning for this age group. The Reggio Emilia approach offers a “negotiated” curriculum, where children work together with their teacher to forge a path of knowledge.
Children are active participants in the learning process. Through collaboration, shared experiences, and in-depth exploration of unique topics, they develop a rich understanding of the projects which they undertake. By learning through projects, children develop the ability to become “masters” of knowledge related to specific topics—a skill that will serve them well as they enter first grade and beyond.

“What created such an impression when we entered Compass School was the happiness that filled the air. It’s a wonderful environment—you can see and feel that it’s a place where the children are happy to be. It’s a testament to the teachers and facilitators who have created such a warm and friendly atmosphere. We’re happy to have our child at Compass.”
